Remodeling in San Ramon

San Ramon homes are a mix of established neighborhoods and newer construction, and remodeling demand here centers on kitchens, bathrooms and whole-home updates. We serve San Ramon homeowners on all three.

N. Abeyta Remodels is a licensed and insured remodeler based in Brentwood. We manage the whole project, from demolition and rough work through drywall, tile, flooring and paint, so you deal with one team.

Permits in San Ramon

Permits for San Ramon are handled by the Building and Safety Services of the City of San Ramon's Community Development Department. What follows is what that office publishes, and we confirm the specifics for your address before work begins.

The City of San Ramon lists the home improvements that do not need a permit, based on the California Residential Code. The list includes painting, papering, tiling, carpeting, cabinets, countertops and similar finish work, along with small detached structures, fences up to a stated height and minor plumbing leak repairs.

The city also publishes handouts specifically for kitchen alterations, bathroom alterations, laundry room alterations, window and door installations, roof permits and water heaters. Applications are made through the online portal, and the city says it returns voicemails within one business day.

What this means for your project

• Finish work is exempt, but changing a layout, plumbing or circuits is not covered by that list.
• San Ramon publishes remodel-specific handouts, which we use when planning.
• The city's page lists two different addresses for its office, so check before visiting in person.
