A Brentwood remodeler, based in Brentwood
N. Abeyta Remodels operates out of Outrigger Circle in Brentwood. That matters for remodeling because the work does not end when the last tile is set. If something needs a second look, you are calling a company a short drive away, not one that travels in from another county.

What remodeling in Brentwood looks like
Census estimates put the median Brentwood home at about 2003 for the year it was built, and about 82 percent of homes are owner-occupied (American Community Survey, 2020 to 2024, which carries a margin of error). That fits what we see: most homes here are relatively recent, with open floor plans and builder-grade kitchens and bathrooms that are due for an update rather than a rescue. The common requests are straightforward: better cabinets and counters, a reworked kitchen island, a walk-in shower in place of a tub, and new flooring that carries through the main living areas.
Brentwood summers are hot, which affects more than comfort. Exterior paint, windows and doors take a beating from sun and heat, and flooring that handles heat and foot traffic is worth thinking about early. If the exterior needs attention along with the interior, see our exterior finishes, windows and doors and painting pages.
Kitchens and bathrooms in Brentwood homes
These are the two projects homeowners here ask for most. Our kitchen remodeling page covers layout, cabinets, counters and the order the trades work in. Our kitchen and bathroom remodeling page covers doing both rooms together, including waterproofing and tile, which is where bathrooms succeed or fail.
If you are planning a larger project, such as updating most of the house or adding rooms, our full home renovation service runs it as one managed job.
Permits and neighborhood rules
Remodeling in Brentwood can involve two layers of approval. The first is the city. The City of Brentwood's Development Services Division, which runs the Permit Center, says building permits are required for almost all construction work, including plumbing, mechanical, electrical and structural work. Its published handout lists the exceptions. They include finish work such as carpet, paint, flooring and tile, and replacing a kitchen countertop in the same location without changing outlets or fixtures. The handout notes that tile inside a tub or shower enclosure does require a permit. The handout is dated 2017, so we confirm current requirements with the city for your address. Permit applications are submitted through the city's electronic portal.
The second layer is your neighborhood. Many Brentwood neighborhoods have a homeowners association with its own rules on exterior changes. If yours does, check what it requires before ordering windows, doors or exterior paint.
We confirm what applies to your address as part of planning, so there are no surprises once work is scheduled.
Questions to ask any Brentwood remodeler
- Is the contractor licensed in California, and can you look the license up yourself?
- Who will be on site day to day, and who do you call with a question?
- What is included in the estimate, and what is not?
- How are changes handled once work has started?
- Who handles permits and inspections?
We cover these in more detail in our guide to choosing a remodeler in Brentwood.
